![]() Coney Island is one of the best-known amusement parks in the US. It was with the coming of the NYC subway that this area became such a popular playground. Its 3.5 mile Boardwalk and sand beach is also famous as is the wooden Cyclone Rollercoaster (built in 1927) and the Wonder Wheel (built in 1920) both of which are NYC Landmarks. These are just some of the many rides and forms of entertainment for both kids and adults. On the corner of Surf And Stillwell Avenues is Nathan's Famous. Here is the site of the very first Nathan's which began as a nickel hot dog stand in 1916. As a matter of fact, there's a July 4th annual hot dog eating competition here.
