The Gershwin Theatre is owned by the Nederlander Organization. When it opened in 1972 it was the first new Broadway theatre in 40 years. Seating capacity is 1,900. As one of the Great White Way Broadway Theaters, this theater is located in the famous Broadway Theater District, home to over 40 theaters within a 10 block strip of Manhattan (from 53rd Street to 42nd Street, between 6th and 8th Avenues).
