
After the demolition of the original Helen Hayes Theatre in the '80s, The Little Theatre which had opened in 1912 to specialize in the mounting of small, intimate plays, was renamed for the illustrious first lady of the American theatre. Seating capacity is 597. As one of the Great White Way Broadway Theaters, this theater is located in the famous Broadway Theater District, home to over 40 theaters within a 10 block strip of Manhattan (from 53rd Street to 42nd Street, between 6th and 8th Avenues).
