The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, originally the Globe Theatre, opened in 1910. After some years as a movie house, in 1958 the theatre was rebuilt and renamed the Lunt-Fontanne, in honor of acting couple Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Seating capacity at this Nederlander theatre is 1,505. As one of the Great White Way Broadway Theaters, this theater is located in the famous Broadway Theater District, home to over 40 theaters within a 10 block strip of Manhattan (from 53rd Street to 42nd Street, between 6th and 8th Avenues).
