The Walter Kerr Theatre first opened at the Ritz Theatre in 1921. It was closed from 1965 to 1971, then renovated, renamed and reopened by Jujamcyn Theatres in 1990. Named for the late drama critic, the Walter Kerr is another of Broadway's intimate gems with seating capacity of 947. As one of the Great White Way Broadway Theaters, this theater is located in the famous Broadway Theater District, home to over 40 theaters within a 10 block strip of Manhattan (from 53rd Street to 42nd Street, between 6th and 8th Avenues).
