Whether you’re out on a shopping expedition, going to dinner, on your way to or from the theater, or just out for a walk around town, you won’t want to miss the holiday window displays featured at many of New York’s top retailers. Each season, these retailers bring their creative holiday spirit to their window displays, often with a unique theme each year. The artistry is varied – trendy, traditional, magical. Window browsing is a holiday tradition not to be missed!

Barneys New York Holiday Window Displays 660 Madison Avenue (at 61st Street) New York Phone: 212-826-8900 The holiday window displays at Barneys are always quite creative and trendy, with a theatrical flair. Past themes have included the foodie culture, Saturday Night Live, Andy Warhol and last season's Lady Gaga theme. This year, Barneys “Baz Dazzled” theme feature mechanical displays and unique art pieces.

Bloomingdales Holiday Window Displays 1000 Third Avenue at 59th Street New York Phone: 212-705-2000 Bloomingdales features some of New York City's most beautiful holiday window displays.  This year, Bloomingdale’s complex displays include interactive games and high-tech features, a huge teddy bear and the New Year’s Eve ball drop. Past themes have included holiday songs, fairytales and the Phantom of the Opera.

Lord & Taylor Holiday Windows 424 Fifth Avenue (at 38th Street) New York Phone: 212-391-3344 Each year, Lord & Taylor features classic holiday window displays along Fifth Avenue. The Lord & Taylor windows feature miniature fairies, ballerinas and mice in various rooms of a mansion. L&T has used video wall technology for the first time.

Macy's Department Store Holiday Window Displays Herald Square, 151 West 34th Street New York Phone: 212-695-4400 Macy's holiday windows are the most visited of all in New York. With Macy’s “Santa’s Journey to the Stars” theme, a young boy discovers the mysteries of Christmas on different planets through the lens of his new telescope.

Saks has integrated all sorts of technology to amaze all spectators.

Holiday Windows 727 Fifth Avenue New York Phone: 212-755-8000 This year’s windows feature Tiffany blue gift boxes and jewelry found in various New York spaces, including a taxi, skating in Central Park and sipping hot chocolate with a view. There is a lightshow every 15 minutes from 4pm to 12 midnight.
